I’m Ed Holub. I shoot in New Orleans, and I don’t ask for money until there’s something
real behind it. Here’s what’s real.
A working-class father loses his daughter to the trafficking world. A runaway who looks
just like her puts a gun in his hand. What he does with it drags a corrupt cop, a
detective who won’t quit, and the respectable man really running the ring into the same
room. That’s UNDERBELLY.
Saul Stein kills a pimp in a moment of madness and ties his fate
to Roan, the girl he was trying to save. They run. The cops covering
it up work for the same man Saul used to call a friend. It ends with Saul standing in
front of him.
Script’s done. Chain of title’s clean. My crew is already committed, no money down. I
own the camera package — nobody’s renting me anything. Louisiana’s tax credit covers a
real chunk of the budget, private equity covers most of the rest. What’s left is the
cash that has to be in the account before any of that lands: crew, cast, gear, the
actual shoot week. That’s the piece this funds. Not a leap of faith — the last step.
A contained, character-driven crime feature at this budget tier isn’t a long shot —
The Rivals of Amziah King (McConaughey, under
$500K) proved the model works in 2025. This isn’t a first attempt asking strangers to
gamble — it’s a finished, professional package short one piece of the stack.
