I remember one shoot where we focused on a hand as a person walked across the street. At first it seemed nothing was sharp but when it a big screen you immediately realized you were following the hand of the murderer as if it were your own. Spooky powerful, and a Human had to come up with that idea because it took feeling and not doing the most average lowest common denominator. A sharp rack focus at the perfect moment isn’t an accident. It’s skill, teamwork, and intuition. AI can mimic the motion,by generalizing the average but it doesn’t feel the thrill. It doesn’t get the nuance. It can’t slowly direct a reveal. Because that’s what we Humans do. And that thrill shows in the work me and my teams churn out day after day.
